COVID-19
I am writing to you from my home in New Jersey. While I have found many silver linings in these times, there has also been a lot of fear, sorrow, uncertainty and confusion.
Many of you have asked me to update Symple to address COVID-19; however, Symple wasn't built to handle the crisis that COVID-19 presents.
While it could be useful for tracking the onset of symptoms, we don’t have a way to make that data useful to clinicians and researchers. Because it is so contagious, and because there is still so much to learn about the virus itself, an app that helps epidemiologists understand the disease and its spread would be more useful. Therefore, I recommend you download and use this app:
It will be of far greater use to the medical community (and therefore you personally) if we all collect and donate our data to the same place.
That is why I recommend the COVID-19 Symptom Tracker. Designed by researchers at Harvard, Stanford and King’s College London, the app is
easy to use
does not require too much personally identifiable information
pays you back by sharing what your data has enabled the researchers to learn.
So, give it a try! AND…if you are (or know someone who is) in the 55+ category, YOUR data is particularly USEFUL!!
